Our Missions Program

For the past fifteen years, the goals of planting indigenous local churches, and the winning, training and mentoring of men of that nation to pastor these churches has been our foreign missions’ emphasis at Temple Baptist Church. This missionary focus has come to be reflected in a variety of ways:

  • Regular missionary deputation presentations (averaging two candidates per month)

  • Two teen and up to three adult foreign missions trips taken each year (Uganda, Fiji and India among the recent trips)

  • Our annual Missions Conference, held each spring – the highlight of our church year

  • Faith-Promise missions giving program (II Corinthians 8 and 9)

  • A current missions “family” of over 100 supported missionaries (as of 12/07)

  • Seven families currently serving or surrendered to the field (with others in college or seminary preparing for their call to missions)

  • As a member of the board of directors at Fundamental Baptist World-Wide Missions (and with a son on the mission field), our senior pastor, Dr. David Pittman, reminds us that for every missionary leaving home for the field, TWO missionaries are leaving the field for home. We must reverse this trend.

As you see these names, view the pictures, and consider the need, let me invite you to come join us at TBC as we ask ourselves, "am I willing to give, am I willing to go to share the gospel with those who’ve never heard?"

    Sincerely in Christ,
    Joe D. Mims
    Assistant Pastor/Missions Director

    Future Plans

    Construction Trip to Ivory Coast
In January of 2008 we will be taking 15 men to Abigian, Ivory Coast to help with the construction of an educational facility. Tammy Aurand, a missionary out of our own church, is teaching in a Christian school that is in need of room to help train more children to serve the Lord.

    Medical Trip To Amazon River
Doctors, nurses, paramedics, and other volunteers will be taking a trip down the Amazon River to help meet the physical and spiritual needs of the many people of this region of the world that have never heard the gospel. One of our veteran missionaries will use the medical aid, to open doors of future ministry.

    Youth A-Trip
The Juniors and Seniors from our youth group will be taking a trip to minister in the Caribbean. Seeing the spiritual and economic poverty of the nationas close to America will open their eyes to the needs of the world. Soul-Winning, Evangelistic Services, and Vacation Bible School are all used to help reach people with the Gospel.

    Youth B-Trip
Young people in 9th and 10th grade will be taking a trip into Canada where they will help a church planting missionary. Vacation Bible School, special services, and area wide evangelism are just a few of the areas in which these young people will be ministering.

    Evangelistic Trip
During the Summer of 2008 a group of our church members will be going to help reach the people of Estonia. They will be helping one of the missioniaries that our church supports with special services and door-to-door evangelism.
