| For the past twenty-five years, the goals of planting indigenous local churches, and the winning, training and mentoring of men of that nation to pastor these churches has been our foreign missions’ emphasis at Temple Baptist Church. This missionary focus is reflected in a variety of ways:
Regular missionary deputation and furlough presentations
Two teen and up to three adult foreign missions trips taken each year (Papua New Guinea, Guyana, and the Dominican Republic are among the recent trips)
Our annual Missions Conference, held each spring – the highlight of our church year
Faith-Promise missions giving program (II Corinthians 8 and 9)
A current missions “family” of over 90 supported missionaries
Ten families out of our church are currently serving or surrendered to the field (with others in college or seminary preparing for their call to missions)
As a member of the board of directors at Fundamental Baptist World-Wide Missions, and Baptist International Missions Inc. (and with a son on the mission field), our senior pastor, Dr. David Pittman, reminds us that for every missionary leaving home for the field, TWO missionaries are leaving the field for home. We must reverse this trend.
As you see these names, view the pictures, and consider the need, let me invite you to come join us at TBC as we ask ourselves, "am I willing to give, am I willing to go to share the gospel with those who’ve never heard?" |
